What kind of a job can I expect after I graduate?
Computer Programmer and Computer Programmer Analyst programs
prepare students for entry level work in the Information Technology field.
Typical jobs might include Programmer, Junior Programmer, Junior Programmer/Analyst,
Technical Writer, Help-Desk Support, Technical Sales, Database Developer,
and Database Programmer.
Who is the typical employer?
Some employers include computer service firms, banks and
financial institutions, all levels of government, insurance companies,
educational institutions, engineering and scientific companies, and retail
businesses.
What does a Computer Programmer do?
Computer Programmers write and maintain computer programs
or write software packages by coding instructions and algorithms into
a machine-readable form. Programmers test, debug, document and implement
computer programs or software packages. Programmers also maintain existing
programs and act as resource persons, solving computer problems for users.
What does an Analyst do?
An Analyst confers with end users to determine their information
processing needs, analyse these needs, and develop solutions through the
application of computer technology. An Analysts does many things such
as write specifications, test and implement information systems, provide
user training, analyse and develop databases, and supervise projects.
What programming languages are you using in your programs?
Our programs focus on programming concepts and problem
solving using the Visual Studio .NET Development Environment. Students
study a variety of programming languages such as Visual Basic and depending
on their computer electives, languages such as C++ and/or Cobol.
